A hand-rolled wool tie in a dark brown herringbone. Up close the V of the weave is crisp and the colour moves between olive-brown, tobacco and near black; across a room the blade settles into one dark, earthy brown. The cloth is a Shetland herringbone wool with a dry, matte face and no sheen at all, so the knot sits soft and a little rustic instead of sharp. That is why it earns its place from October on. Wear it with a flannel suit, a corduroy jacket or a heavy cotton shirt, anywhere a silk would look too polished. Drake's has been going since 1977, and the label on the back reads Handmade in London, England.
