De Bonne Facture cuts everything with ease, and the sizing runs larger than the numbers and letters suggest. Three rules of thumb cover most of it: jackets run about two sizes bigger than the European number, shirts and knits run about one size bigger than North American sizing, and the Balloon Trouser is the one exception that runs snug at the waist, so size up on it. When in doubt anywhere else, size down.
Official garment measurements are on their way from the ateliers and will be added here as they arrive. In the meantime the conversion charts below will put you in the right size, and if you are between sizes, call or write and we will measure the garment in store for you.
Jackets and outerwear
Bookstore Jacket, Writer's Jacket, Driver's Jacket. Go by the chest size you actually wear, not your usual European number.
The chart shows the chest each size fits, not the garment measurement. Jackets are cut with room to layer a knit underneath at your true size.
Trousers
One Pleat Trousers, Balloon Trousers. The size number runs about sixteen ahead of your waist in inches, so a 48 fits a 32 inch waist. These are high-rise trousers that sit at your natural waist, so measure there, not where your jeans sit.
The Balloon Trouser runs snug at the waist. Size up on it if you are between sizes. On the measured Balloon size 48: waist 81 cm (32 in), front rise 31 cm (12.25 in), inseam 73 cm (28.75 in), cropped by design.
Shirts and knitwear
Artist Shirts, Crew Neck Jumper. The cut is generous and runs about one size larger than North American sizing. If you wear a large in most shirts or knits, the MM to LG will fit like your large here.
Size down if you are in between. Garment chest is measured around the full chest of the garment; the medium Artist Shirt has been measured in store at 112 cm (44 in).
