This is the trouser we have been waiting on. Everett and Tellis have carried our denim wall for years, both slim through the leg. The Archie sits on the other side of that line: a longer rise, an easy seat and thigh, and a leg that drops straight from the knee. It is where trousers are going, and it is the most comfortable thing on the wall.
It is not denim. The cloth is a brushed stretch moleskin woven in Italy, 8.7 oz, with the dense, peached hand a good moleskin gets and enough elastane to move with you. The olive is sulfur dyed, not indigo. That is how you get a green this deep, and it is why the seams and knees will soften and lighten over a couple of winters the way old army trousers do.
Think of it as a chino cut for a straight leg: slanted front pockets, jetted back pockets, zip fly. It runs true to size, so take your normal waist. The inseam is finished at 31 inches, shorter than the denim we stock, so if you are over six feet try it on before you order. We can hem or taper it in store.
We brought the Archie in for the client who wants the ease of a relaxed trouser without giving up a clean line. A knit and loafers now, a tweed jacket by November.
