Most men own a khaki pant, and most of them own the wrong one: pleated at the waist, a little shiny, cut like a uniform. This is the one we would hand you instead. It is AG's Everett Tailored, a five-pocket pant in a smooth cotton gabardine, in Sunlit Beige, a warm khaki sand that sits between stone and tan.
The cloth does the work. Gabardine is a tightly woven twill, so the face is clean and even, with a faint diagonal rib you only see up close. AG cuts this one from a 10.2 oz Lux Cotton Gabardine, 100% cotton. There is no stretch in it, so it hangs the way a trouser does rather than the way a jean does.
The Everett is AG's slim straight block: mid rise, easy through the hip and thigh, then narrowing a little toward the hem. It is the shape we keep steering our denim wall toward, and this is the same shape with the denim taken out. Size it by your waist in inches, the way you would a pair of jeans, and try it on if you sit between sizes. The inseam is 32 inches (81 cm), and we hem in store.
