The 9901 is the plain toe blucher in black shell cordovan, and it is the most useful dress shoe Alden makes. No brogueing, no cap, open lacing. It goes under a suit, under a blazer, and under denim without looking out of place in any of the three.
Handcrafted in Massachusetts on the Barrie last, with a 360 degree Goodyear welt and double oak leather outsoles. The black shell cordovan is Horween's, tanned in Chicago, and it rolls rather than creases. It holds a deep lustre with very little polish and it outlasts almost anything else on a shoe rack.
