Black Unicorn Print Wool-Silk Square Scarf

A square wool and silk scarf, made in Italy, printed with a unicorn design from the brand's design archive. The ground is black. Four tan unicorns fill the centre, with long-necked birds and small hounds between them, and a border of hounds, cats, birds and rabbits runs around the edge. It's all drawn among green leaves and small blue, burgundy, orange and yellow flowers. Look at one corner and there's a collared cat sitting above a hound.

Printed scarves were the first thing Drake's made when it started in 1977, and it still makes them. This one is 90 cm square, big enough to fold into a band and knot at the front, the way it's shown in the photos, or to open out flat. The black ground keeps it easy to wear. It sits under a navy or charcoal overcoat, a waxed jacket or a brown tweed jacket without competing, and the tan, green and burgundy in the print pick up browns and olives.
