Navy 57108 Prince of Wales Long Sleeve Knit Polo

A plain navy knit polo is easy to find. What sets this one apart is the Prince of Wales check knit into the fabric, tone on tone and faint enough that it reads as texture first. From a distance it’s just a very good navy polo.

The yarn is 70% wool and 30% silk, the silk there for a softer handle than straight wool, which helps with a collar against your neck all day. It has a knit polo collar and a button placket, with ribbed cuffs and hem. The family that makes it is still in Abruzzo and does its own dyeing in-house.

Standard fit. Order the chest size you wear in a sport coat, and if you sit between sizes take the larger. The tag inside carries the Italian number, so a 42 from us is marked 52.

Put it under a grey sport coat in place of a shirt and tie. For the weekend it works with tan chinos and a brown suede jacket.
