A vest is the layer most guys skip until the first properly cold morning, then wonder why they waited. This one is knit from Highland wool in taupe and cream, a colourway that sits easily over a flannel, an oxford or a plain tee, and slips under a coat when the temperature drops.
The wool is the reason we brought it in. It is 100% Highland wool, made in Peru. Peter Middleton started Wythe in 2019 chasing vintage Americana with a better fit, and the Highland knits are that idea in wool. They are fully fashioned, shaped as they are knit, so the fit is built into the garment instead of cut out of cloth.
Highland wool relaxes with wear, so if you land between two sizes, take the smaller. It should sit close without pulling, and it will ease a little across the chest the more you wear it.
It is the answer for the days when a sweater is too much and a jacket is overkill. Plain wool, a clean colourway, built to be worn hard from October to March. It is the one we would hand a regular who asks what to layer.
