A black suit is usually for a date that’s already on the calendar: a wedding, a funeral, a graduation, an invitation that says black tie optional. It’s cut on the Vesuvio, Tagliatore’s structured suit block, with a traditional shoulder seam and light canvas and interlining, and more structure than their soft sport coat cut. The cloth is Super 110s wool in a solid black. The suit is made at the brand’s own factory in Martina Franca, in Puglia.
Two buttons, a notch lapel, flap pockets at the hip and a welted breast pocket. Nothing about it dates, which is what you want from black. A white shirt and a dark tie for the formal days, a pale blue shirt and a knit tie when it’s simply a good suit.
Tailoring is free on this suit, done by hand in our Edmonton shop. The trousers come with the hem unfinished, so tell us the date you need it by and we’ll plan the fitting around it. Returns are accepted on suits that haven’t been altered, so we pin the fit with you before we cut or hem anything. Ordering from outside Edmonton?
