A navy silk tie with a small pattern of oblong frames. Each frame is outlined in cream with a dark green centre. Some stand upright and some lie on their side, so the pattern has some movement without getting loud. Up close there's plenty to look at, and from across a room it reads as a quiet geometric on dark navy.
The navy is deep enough that in some light it looks close to black, which is what makes it so easy to wear. It goes with a navy or grey suit, and it holds its own against a tweed jacket and an oxford button-down. It's just as good with a charcoal suit or a dark brown jacket.
Turn it over and the back has a little something too. The tip is lined in a cream and green stripe, and the woven label reads handmade in London, England. If you already own a navy solid, this is a good second tie: same dark ground, a bit more going on up close.
Untie fully after each wear and hang it so the knot can drop. Care: follow the care label.
