The Carter is J Mueser's point collar shirt. The name is a nod to Michael Caine in Get Carter, and the collar was worked out with a shirtmaker in Naples. A point collar looks either tired or terrific, and it comes down to how the points sit. This one is made to be worn under a jacket and still look right open at the neck on a weekend.
This colourway is a tan alternate stripe in cotton. Tan is the easy neutral in a shirt wardrobe: it sits next to navy, brown, olive and charcoal tailoring without fighting any of them, and an alternate stripe gives the cloth more to look at than a regular stripe. It is the shirt we would put under a brown or navy blazer when a tie feels like too much, and it takes a knit tie happily when the day calls for one.
J Mueser is a New York house that started on Christopher Street in the West Village and makes its shirts in Italy. If you already wear one of our Waverly suits or J Mueser blazers, this shirt comes from the same house.
Sizes here run in North American neck inches. The chart below lines them up with the European collar numbers (38 to 44).
