When the forecast will not commit, this is the layer that solves it. The Short Rokig from Barbour is a proper waterproof jacket that does not carry itself like technical kit, so it sits over tailoring as easily as over a knit.

The outer is a 65% polyester and 35% cotton blend backed with a polyurethane membrane, which is what makes it waterproof rather than merely shower resistant, and it stays breathable with it. The cut is short, about 28.0 in (71.1 cm) on a medium, so it clears the seat and moves freely. Raglan sleeves run in one piece to the collar, which is why there is no shoulder seam to bind when you reach.

Front fastenings close securely, the pockets sit where a hand goes, and tonal embroidery marks the front left pocket. Navy is the version that goes with everything already in the closet: denim, chinos, grey flannel, a navy knit. Machine washable at 30C, so it can be worn hard.
