The sweater that carries an otherwise plain outfit. Bouclé yarn is spun with tiny loops in it, so the surface of the knit comes out textured, almost like fine teddy cloth, and it catches light in a way a flat merino never will.
Plum is the colour to take a chance on this season. Deep enough to wear like navy, warm enough to do something for you that navy will not. It sits naturally over grey, tan, denim, and white.
Knitting is done by Scaglione, a family knitwear house in Bergamo, Italy, whose name is on the label. Soft wool, no itch at the collar, and a relaxed shape that layers over a shirt without bulk.
The fit runs generous. If you are between sizes, or usually take a large but like a neater sweater, size down.
