The brand took this from a made-to-measure businessman's coat that belonged to a friend's grandfather: double-breasted, belted, raglan-sleeved and cut slightly oversized, so it goes over a jacket without a fight.
This camel is a ratine in half wool and half camel hair, lined in viscose. Camel is the colour people picture when they say overcoat, and camel hair is about as traditional as a coat fibre gets.
It is cut generously: take your usual size for the intended oversized look, or size down one for a closer fit. It is a coat, so size to the chest you wear a jacket in.
Made by the Atelier of Mr Erbas in Pantin, France, whose name is on the label.
