Made-to-Measure Suits at Mr. Derk
Experience Tailoring Perfected
Three generations of our family have been building suits by hand. Our Made-to-Measure service starts with a one-on-one consultation where we get to know how you dress, what you need, and what fits your life. From there, we walk you through fabrics, details, and fit preferences. Every suit, jacket, trouser, overcoat, and dress shirt is cut to your exact measurements.
Standard turnaround is 6 to 8 weeks from first fitting to final pick-up. Need it sooner? Our express suiting option can have you fitted in 3 to 4 weeks. Book your consultation and we'll take it from there.
Why Choose Mr. Derk Made-to-Measure?
Your measurements, not a size chart. Every garment is cut to your body. No compromises, no "close enough."
Canadian-made since 1939. Three generations of tailoring experience go into every piece. Our production partner Empire builds each garment right here in Canada.
We work with you, not at you. Your consultation is a conversation. We learn how you dress, what your week looks like, and what you actually need in your closet. No pressure, no upsell.
Fabrics you can feel the difference in. We source cottons, linens, and wools from mills that have been doing this as long as we have. You pick the cloth, we'll tell you how it wears.
Your Consultation
We start by getting to know you. What do you do for work? What's already in your closet? What's missing? Whether you're after a sharp business suit or a tuxedo for a specific event, we'll walk through the options together and figure out exactly what makes sense.
Choosing Your Fabric
This is the fun part. We carry cottons, linens, and wools from mills across Italy, England, and Portugal. You'll feel the weight and texture in person, and we'll help you match the right cloth to how you plan to wear it. A year-round business suit needs a different fabric than a summer wedding jacket.
Your Measurements
We take a full set of body measurements, use guide garments for reference, and note every detail about how you stand, move, and wear your clothes. This is where 80 years of tailoring experience shows. The difference between a good fit and a great one is in the details most people never think about.
Assembly
Your garment goes into production with every detail you selected. Lining, buttons, trim, lapel style, pocket placement. Our manufacturing partner Empire builds each piece by hand in Canada, following the exact specifications from your fitting.
- Every garment is inspected three times before you see it.
- Once during production for accuracy. Once after production for finish and detail
- And once more when it arrives at Mr. Derk, where we go over it ourselves before your fitting.
Your Final Fitting
You come in, try it on, and we make any adjustments on the spot. Our in-house tailoring team handles everything, usually within 48 hours. You walk out with a suit that fits like nothing off the rack ever will.
